This will be short, but I just wanted to let everyone know that it is day 4, post chemo, and Wayne is feeling good. He is doing great! No nausea, no balance issues, no problems. Days 3 and 4 are ususally the worst, so I am really hoping he is going to have no side effects this time. He migbt next week though, after he receives the avstin for the first time. But with luck, things will go smooothly that time tim too.
Wayne has had more energy this week that he's had in a long time. He is able to do some easy chores again and that makes him quite happy. It is so hard to have everyone doing everything for you. I know this. Hi is able to bath without assistance, and that is a biggie. It's pretty hard to hae to ask for help in that area. I have had to experience it, and now so has Wayne. He is getting up and down the stairs to bring me things so I can cook and he is neither winded nor unbalanced, and he is so hapopy about it! He takes out the garbage and makes cleaning the kitchen easier for me. He isn't quite back to his old self, but he is much better than when we were in Wenatchee. He loves sitting outside listening to music, looking out over tyhe mountains. It's such a gorgeous view, and he feels well enough to enjoy it. I think he was getting depressed in that awful motel room, but he isn't depressed now.
And he is making two packs of cigerettes last a whole week. I think one of these days he is going to just suprise me and quit. I am doing my very best not to harp on him about it while still encouraging him to do it. It's a fine line as anyone who has smoked and tried to quit would understand. He wants to quit, but it's a crutch that helps him deal with things, so quitting is really hard.
Thanks for all those prayers! Please keep them coming!
Oops! Apparently I can't spell the workd effects!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you are having no side effects yet. I know you are enjoying the mountains and the Montana fresh air. I am on my way to Clarissa'a for a Halloween party. I am going to be a witch. Do you think that might be appropiate? Take care. Love you lots.
ReplyDeleteGreat news, so glad to hear you are feeling good. So glad to hear that you are cutting back on the smokes too. I know you can put that habit behind you too. We had our first snow yesterday, I guess winter is on it's way where I am ready for it or not. Love to you all.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween. This is definitely one of my favorite holidays. Love all the costumes and of course the candy. Hope you are feeling well and are ready for the next round of Chemo. Get lots of rest and remember we love you.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning. Hope all is well with you guys. First day of November, and the holiday season season is upon us. I love this time of year, except all of the stinking rain we get here, and boy is it coming down like crazy this morning. My yard looks like a lake out there. Don't know what day you have chemo this week, but I will be with you in thought and prayer. Love you.
ReplyDeleteChemo is on Wednesday, tomorrow morning. Wayne has another new medicine this cycle. He is adding in avastin, whih is an antibody that works by interrupting the blood and oxygen supply to the tumors, theorectically causing damage to the cancer cells. Apparently it can cause trouble going in, so the first time they have it run in for an hour or more. This should be a three plus hour session. And then it's off to the neuroloist Thursday morning.
ReplyDeleteHi, Wayne and Barb,
ReplyDeleteYou keep me busy researching all these drugs they are giving you, Wayne!! This Avastin sounds like a pretty powerful medicine. I read that there are studies using it for many different things, including age-related macular degeneration. Amazing that they discover all these medicines.
We will be thinking of you this morning, Wayne. I hope this new mix helps.
On another note, today we are having a concrete floor poured in the part of our basement that now has a dirt floor. The jewelry shop is going there someday.
We love you.
John and Denise
Good morning: Hope all goes well with chemo this morning and we pray that you do not suffer too many side effects with this medicine. I agree that it is amazing with all the new meds they find. Hopefully they will find one that makes you the most comfortable.
ReplyDeleteSo are you guys staying in Missoula or driving back and forth from Ferns? Hang in there. Love you lots.
Hey Wayne, Been thinking of you all day. How are you feeling after the Chemo? Good I hope. Keep us updated. Love you.
ReplyDeleteHave'nt been in for a day or so. Just some food to thought. I know that it has been $$$ for travel and such. I'm thinking of doing a raffle here in Kalispell for something to raise $$$ for travel and such. Any ideas???? Would anyone else be in for a each town raffle or benefit joint fund raiser together. Lots of us out there that love WAYNE. (me lots and lots)
ReplyDeleteWow Carol! Thanks for thinking of that. We can sometimes get free rooms with avance notice or so we're told. It didn't work out for us to have a free one this week, but the social worker at the oncologist's office got us a really nice hotel for $30. It has an indoor water park and so after choemo ad after an early dinner, we went in and rode the slide. Run! I have a hunch we will be there one night next week too because we just found out today that we have to go for two days again. Wayne is seeing a neurologist who is going to meet his son in Seoul in January while his son, who is currently teaching in Japan checks out teaching in Korea. He thinks the Japanese are quite rigid. Wait till he tries Korea! I told him to take long johns and he asked why so I told him abut the winds from Siberia that are cooooooooold. He is maybe going to change Waybe back to the meds he was taking before that have always worked if in the right amount. I hope so. This new med is EXPENSIVE! I will get Wayne down here to read him everyone's posts. Thanks you for all your thoughts and prayers and especially love. We love all of you too.
ReplyDeleteHi Wayne and Barb,
ReplyDeletePicked Dad up at the airport this afternoon. He goes to the Heart Institute tomorrow to make sure his heart is strong enough for back surgery. Have your ears been ringing tonight? We have been talking about and thinking of you. Know our thoughts, prayers and love are with you.
Thanks, Karen,
ReplyDeleteLet Dad know we are thinking of him too. Back suregery is no fun! I hope he is strong enough to have it if he needs it. Please keep us posted.
